I purchased this so that I could dual screen, as most people who buy this device, only have one VGA port on they're computer.I figured this would do the trick, but for reasons I do not know, the device did not work, I can't blame the device itself as that may not be the problem, until I do some more testing to see what the problem is, I can't truly blame this device.Shipping was fast, when I tried it out for the first time, it was the incorrect fit for my computer, as you may know, there are different types of DVI adapters such as DVI-A, DVI-D and so on, well I got the wrong one.I contacted they're customer service through email, and they sent me out a new one, free of charge. It was a fit, but It did not work as I said before, but I'm not one to give up that easily, so I will just keep looking into it, until I find a solution. But it's a cheap little device, so I don't regret buying it, no real lose.
Just make sure you equalize the static charge between the cable and you'r tower [hold onto the metal bits of the cable with one hand and touch the tower with your other]). I was about to get a new monitor (which I probably will eventually anyways) or an adapter. I found this little gem, thought "It's only five bucks, what the hell, if it doesn't work, no big deal." It works perfectly for my needs, which included hot-swapping from the old comp to the new for file transfers (I'm not recommending hot swapping, just saying I did it with no ill-effect. This must have been on sale when I bought it, since I paid $0.01 with $4.99 shipping. Ultimately, if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to buying a new display, here's you're solution. How sad people will have to pay a whole cent more. Now it's $2.06 with $2.95 shipping. And if you future purchasers are anything like me, you'll be thinking "an adpater this cheap, when all the ones I see elsewhere, will not work." For me, I got a new-ish computer for Christmas and my old monitor wasn't DVI capable.
Is works as intended. My video card only had dvi out, but i needed to hook it up to a monitor that was only vga. this dvi to vga is simple and straightforward.
nothing. After doing some more research, I found I will probably need to find a VGA/DVI "converter" that actually converts the VGA signal to a DVI signal. I purchased this "adapter" to try and connect a LCD monitor to a desktop computer CPU. I already had another LCD monitor hooked up to the VGA connection, so I was going to use the DVI connection to hook up the second monitor. This adapter doesn't adapt anything. I switched monitors and still nothing. I turned off and unplugged everything before making the connections.
still nothing. I then switched between every available resolution setting the system had (e.g., 1280x720, 1900x1200, etc).
Nothing. there weren't.
The CPU has VGA and DVI connections. I looked on the internet to see if there were any new drivers for the monitors so they would recognize the adapter.
At least it wasn't an expensive lesson to learn. Using the DVI/VGA adaptor, I connected the monitor to the CPU.
I tried everything you can think of to try and get the second monitor to work, but it didn't.
ended having to buy and extension cable to use these. Items are allot bigger then they appear making monitor adapting very hard.
